Construction Safety Officer
About the Opportunity
We are hiring on behalf of one of our top clients — a leader in the data center construction industry operating across Northern Virginia’s Data Center Alley. This is a hands-on field role for a safety professional who thrives in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and takes pride in keeping crews safe and projects on track.
If you’re the type of person who leads by example, communicates clearly with crews of all backgrounds, and doesn’t wait to be told there’s a problem — we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct routine site walks and safety observations across active data center construction sites
- Lead daily toolbox talks that are relevant, engaging, and understood by all crew members
- Track corrective actions from identification to close-out — and follow through until they’re done
- Provide oversight of subcontractor safety practices and ensure compliance with client and OSHA standards
- Travel between multiple project sites in the Ashburn/Northern Virginia area as project needs require
- Operate independently in the field while keeping site leadership and safety management informed of conditions, risks, and trends
- Document safety observations, incidents, near-misses, and inspections accurately and consistently
What We Require
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction (required — active card)
- Hazard Communication (HazCom) training — required given multiple chemical systems and vendor operations present on data center sites
- Current First Aid / CPR certification
- 4–8 years of construction safety experience, with preference for data center, mission-critical, or large commercial projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document conditions clearly and communicate directly with crews and leadership
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites in the Northern Virginia region
What Will Set You Apart
These aren’t deal-breakers, but they will move you to the top of our list:
- OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
- OSHA 511 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry
- OSHA 501 – Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish — a significant asset when communicating safety information to diverse crews
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $90,000 – $100,000 depending on experience and certifications
- Performance-based bonus opportunity
- Health, dental, and vision benefits
- Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for site travel
- Opportunity to work on high-profile, large-scale data center projects with a respected industry leader
