We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a leading general contractor with projects across the Southeast. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing and coordinating accurate estimates on large, complex projects while supporting pursuit strategies, preconstruction planning, and client presentations. This is a key leadership role within the preconstruction team, requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead estimating efforts on large-scale projects in industrial, data center, life sciences, manufacturing, distribution, and healthcare sectors.

  • Develop, compile, and review project information to establish estimating criteria.

  • Perform quantity take-offs and produce detailed cost estimates at multiple stages of design.

  • Review and finalize estimates for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project goals.

  • Lead proposal efforts including clarifications, schedules, and supporting documentation.

  • Present proposals and value engineering options to clients and stakeholders.

  • Solicit, review, and tabulate subcontractor and supplier proposals on complex scopes.

  • Support subcontractor procurement in collaboration with operations teams.

  • Work closely with design partners during development to ensure alignment with project budgets.

  • Compare awarded projects to as-sold estimates to verify accuracy and lessons learned.

  • Mentor and train junior estimators and preconstruction engineers.

  • Participate in industry organizations and represent the company professionally.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business/Finance, or related field (preferred).

  • 7+ years of preconstruction/estimating experience with a general contractor.

  • Proven track record estimating large, complex projects ($50M–$200M+).

  • Experience across life sciences, manufacturing, distribution, data centers, and healthcare strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with design-build delivery, including coordination between design and construction teams.

  • Proficiency with estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff, WinEst, Sage/Timberline, ProEst, Bluebeam, etc.).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for client and internal interactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage multiple pursuits simultaneously.

  • Self-starter with initiative, accountability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
